Reviews

"I am truly enjoying these videos on the Art of Tabla. Ty Burhoe is a gifted teacher who can explain complex techniques in a way that is very accessible to beginners and at the same time provide a wealth of information and insights that will be appreciated by tabla players of all levels. I appreciate that new lessons are being added each month covering many aspects of this beautiful instrument."

"What a Gem and Blessing Ty's "Art of Tabla" series is! Perfectly executed, you feel like you're sitting with Ty's patient, thorough, in-person teaching style. He's gotten me happily back on my practice cushion! Wah!!
Chetna (CO, USA)

"Your pacing, sound, lighting, camera angles, etc. are great. These are by far the best tabla videos I’ve seen and easy to follow along and pick up. You have a great way of instructing. Thank you for putting these together!"
Brady (CO, USA)

"Videos are proving an awesome way to practice!”
Kabir (Mumbai, India)

"I am a beginner/intermediate student and have been practicing for over a year now and with the first couple lessons I was able to refine my “NA” and “DHA” with the pointers you gave. It is very exciting for me to proceed forward with your program in there. I am very grateful I stumbled on you on YouTube…”
Martin (OR, USA)

"I am so excited to come across your classes. I live in an area of England where there are no tabla instructors and what I have found online up until now, have not been helpful for a total beginner. Your classes are very clear and enjoyable. Thank you for making this amazing craft available to us all."
Christopher (Guernsey, Channel )

"Ty is an outstanding teacher who doesn't allow his mastery of the instrument to come in his way of breaking it down in a very simple and precise manner to teach beginners like me. I have been learning remotely with him for the past 2 years now but this new resource allows me to work at my pace and revisit my lesson’s material easily during practice through the week. The videos are very well put together and the notes are a good aid to follow along. No reason to avoid practice now when we have Ty by our side all the time!"
Sarvesh (NY, USA)

"Ty is able to break down the basics to an absolutely graspable level for anyone. Being masterful and also patient enough to pass on and teach are two very different and competing skillsets, Ty artfully balances both, laying a well-paved learning path to a traditionally regimented syllabus with a long road. Practicing the basics with Ty’s detailed direction and articulation of mechanics, feeling, flow, and personality has made me a better tabla player. Rather than learning every Kaida variation permutable, recorded videos allow me to take as much time as I need privately with consistent instruction as many times as I need to really get it, without fear of having to “keep up with the group”. Videos that can be accessed on-demand by a master AND empathetic communicator is a gift."
